1. WHAT IS THE WARRANTY?
Integrity Termite is proud to offer a 2-year warranty on all fumigations.
2. WILL YOU NEED ACCESS TO MY RESIDENCE?
Yes. The fumigators will require admittance to the interior of your home. This includes all rooms, closets, storage areas, and the garage. Please make arrangements to leave a key or meet the fumigation company on site the day of your tenting.
3. WILL I NEED TO OPEN MY SAFES?
Yes. For liability purposes, the law requires that all safes be unlocked or removed from the property.
4. IS THE FUMIGATION COMPANY LICENSED AND BONDED?
Absolutely.
5. HOW MANY DAYS WILL I NEED TO BE AWAY?
Depending on the scheduled dates, you will either be out for two or three nights. For example, if you are scheduled mid-week (Tuesday) you will need to be gone Tuesday night and Wednesday night, returning to your property on Thursday. If you are calendared over the weekend (Friday) you will need to be gone Friday night and Saturday night, as well as Sunday night, returning to your property on Monday. We can arrange for you to return to your residence on Sunday for an additional charge.
6. WHAT TIME WILL YOU BE COMING?
Depending on your requested time, we can arrange either a morning or afternoon fumigation. However, they will be conducted over a four-hour window. This means that if you request a morning fume, we will arrive between the hours of eight a.m. and twelve p.m.. If you request an afternoon fume, we will arrive between twelve p.m. and four p.m. Sometimes, we will need to tent a property after four o’clock. This is due to prior scheduled stops that might have taken longer than expected.
7. WHY CAN’T YOU GIVE ME A SPECIFIC TIME?
Since the fumigations are scheduled according to job location, we cannot provide you with a precise time. Therefore, we offer a four-hour window.
8. WHEN DOES THE TENT COME OFF?
Normally, the tent is removed the day after it is erected. Then, the property must be aerated. Therefore, you cannot re-enter your home until the following day.
9. CAN I GO INTO MY HOME AFTER THE TENT IS REMOVED?
No. You must wait until after the property is certified for entry. The fumigators will place a sign on your front door indicating that it is safe to re-enter.
10. HOW DO I KNOW MY PROPERTY IS PROTECTED WHILE I’M AWAY?
The fumigators will place secondary locks on your doors for the duration of the fumigation. They will not leave the property during aeration. And, they will not leave the residence unlocked on the day of certification unless specified.
11. WHO’S RESPONSIBLE FOR THE GAS SHUT OFF AND RESTORE?
We will arrange shut off of your gas for the fumigation. However, we are unable to restore the gas, as the gas company requires the person named on the gas bill to call directly. You must be present at the prearranged time for the restoration of your service.
12. WHAT DO I DO WITH ALL OF THESE FORMS?
Please leave your signed fumigation notice (and neighbor’s consent and plant release forms if applicable) on your kitchen counter the day of your fumigation. Also, do not forget to write a contact number where you can be reached in case of an emergency.
13. WILL THE FUMIGATION KILL ALL OF THE TERMITES?
No. Vikane gas (fumigant) is primarily designed to kill only drywood termites. Since the fumigant does not penetrate the earth, subterranean termites (another form of termite infestation) that live underground are not affected by the gas.
14. WHY ARE TERMITE DROPPINGS STILL PRESENT?
Droppings (little dots of wood) will remain inside termite passages embedded in the wood. Whenever you disturb those areas, whether inadvertently or purposely, droppings will fall out.
15. WILL THE FUMIGATION KILL TERMITE EGGS?
No. Vikane gas is not intended to kill insect eggs. However, once termite eggs hatch, the babies will inevitably die, as there are no adults to feed them.
16. DOES THE FUMIGANT KILL OTHER INSECTS?
Sometimes. Since the gas is specifically designed to eradicate drywood termites, the measured dose is intended for the size of the structure. Occasionally, this amount of fumigant will kill other insects and rodents. However, cockroaches, whose eggs regularly hatch in 48 hours will be protected from the gas; and spiders can halt their respiratory system for longer than 24 hours.
17. MY FAMILY MEMBER HAS RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS. WILL THE FUMIGATION WORSEN THEIR CONDITION?
We recommend that you consult your physician. For further information, please contact Dow AgroSciences (317)337-3000 for more details regarding Vikane gas and chloropicrin.
